I began fly fishing at about the age of 12 yrs old. My family was vacationing in Maine with many members of ATT including Mr.Panzer, a noble prize laureate, who discovered the black hole theory. He spent the summer teaching a group of us to fly fish. I spent the next couple of years fly fishing but put it aside for many years. In 2007, I moved to Central Pennsylvania and looked around at all the waterways around.I went to BassPro and purchased a rod and reel, flies. Off I went to fish the Codorus Creek in York County. I learned what flies to use through trial and error. I meandered up to Yellow Breeches and wandered into the fly shop in Boiling Springs now known as TCO Fly Shop. I purchased a pair of boots and waders. I was hooked! I began taking fly casting and fly tying lessons. I started to hear about Lefty Kreh, Joe Humphries and an organization called Trout Unlimited. I joined Trout Unlimited and got involved in promoting TU to women by running Two Womens’Clinics. I attended the Lancaster Fly Show, which is held annually, and I met a woman who I keep hounding to help me get more women in my area to join by sharing her knowledge. Instead, she put in touch with Amidea Daniels is the Education Coordinator for PFBC.I took her Fly Fishing Instructors Class and have been a volunteer Instructor for the last 4 yrs. I am currently teaching a class at a community center that is on hold due to Covaid 19.
My mission is to introduce fly fishing to all interested parties as well as unite people who fly fish and wish to meet new people. Find new places to fish. Keep a resource of fly patterns online . List events that are taking place.
